try with a Knitting hook, to re insert them back into the pad and backing. Sometimes this will help. Now Berber carpeting has a long history of runs and they can go from one waLL to the other.

Run the ends down in the backing and then add a drop of glue in that area deeep by the backing to hold the end in there. Put some baking soda on the area so the scent is masked and fido might not bother the area again.
