When I was laying hardwood floors for this guy, he used joint compound that was tinted. It didn't matter if it was new oak or old pine. It turned out looking great. I never heard that he ever had to go back because of using this. The 3 coats of finish protected it from crumbling as joint compound does when dry.He's been in this business since he was a small boy when his dad started the business. Go figure. Ron J.
