you take the lenght times the width, times the thickness(converted to feet)
4 inches= .333 feet. then divide by 27,the cubic feet in a yard.

length X width X thickness(ft) = yards

ex. 12 X 12 X 3inches
12 X 12 X .25 =36 divided by 27 = 1.3333 yard.
so you would order a yard and a half for this slab
