Hi Sean!

As far as adhesives,I like the idea.Your nailing it to the joists so you don't need it on the edge grooves.However you may want to use carpenter's glue on the grooved end(it helps keep joints from separating).It sets up stronger than nails!It eliminates the need for face nailing the ends,and provides for a better finish look,just be sure to wipe any excess that squeezes out off when its dry of you get a funky looking finish when you poly your floor!!
