Hi, Jay and Arnett. Yes, you do not need faced for the vapor barrier, but how do you hang/install unfaced between the joists. I guess that you can put furring strips up, spaced correctly if you plan to put in a tile ceiling, but boy does this sound like a lot of work. Since, the door to my basement is always open, I can't see where humidity is going to be an issue, at least in our house. Other people may shut the basement off more. so you may have more problem with it in other houses. But still, as far as I am concerned, stapling the faced up is the best way.
