Eric........why would you want to seal an exterior painted surface?

Exterior paint has everything it needs to stand up to the elements - including one thing a clear does not - pigments that enable it to stand UV light.

Exterior clear finishes have very poor UV resistance - and tend to crack and peel fairly quickly.

A good quality exterior semi-gloss latex paint will have great adhesion, color and gloss retention, good flexibility, as well as good UV resistance.

If your furniture isn't painted with a good exterior S/G (like Glidden Evermore) - go ahead and give it a will work much better than a clear.
