Expansion tank

You need an expansion tank.

Many cities are installing checkvalves or backflow preventers at the water meters.

And water is not compressable. So when heated it expands.

Before the backflow preventers the expanded water would jsut backup into the main.

But now it can so the pressure builts enough to cause the safety valve to release.
