excessive water in crawl space

Gordon, thanks for the advice. I'll certainly heed it.

Update: Seller had builder look at problem..Surprise, he claims there is no problem. He reinserts a short section of the drain tile back into the ground from where it had risen up and above the gravel base. Upon doing so, water began flowing through it, whereas before, there had been no flow. I'm still sure there are other areas where the drain tile is not pitched properly.

Just curious, but does anyone know if it matters whether the drain tile is installed on top of the footing (adjacent to the foundation wall) or if it is down deeper along side the footing? This system rides right on top of the footing and is covered rather shallowly with and inch or less of gravel.

Estimates to fix so far have been 3700 and 5880. Absolutely amazing!!
