Hard or soft, bricks are able to stand up against any single weathering onslaught. But water and freezing temperatures can break down a brick wall. Water that soaks into the brick and then freezes will begin to shatter the brick's internal structure. When any type of brickwork goes bad, it's an expensive headache.
Assuming the brick wall is a veneer, I believe you have two possible solutios. either retain a professional mason to assess the damage and possibly replace or remove the brick down to the frame. If structurally sound, you can evaluate the possibility of installing a new protective siding on top of the brick or applying a cosmetic coating such as stucco. If the brick wall is structural, well I'm not qualified to judge, but the mason is. Unfortunately none of this is DIY.
