We're also looking to put in new floors. Have heard some good things about Versa Strip, a wood laminate with the top 1/4" or so being hard wood. Comes finished and can be installed as a floating floor and has the advantage over Pergo of being real hardwood and can be refinished once or twice. But isn't supposed to have the durability of Pergo. Also, isn't nearly as expensive as solid hardwood, doesn't involve sanding or finishing for installation. We still haven't committed ourselves, but thought I'd share some info.
