If the ceiling has hot water radiation, it is inside plaster in the ceiling; the only clue would be that you have a boiler that provides heat.

Electric heat is usually a mat that lies on top of the drywall under the insulation; although there are ceilings with heating cable inside plaster. When the heat is on, electric wire detector tools can locate the wires.
