electrical system

Posted by Scott Smith on June 4th, 1998 03:33 PM

I am cosidering buying a house and recently had the home inspected. The inspector suggested a separate thorough electrical inspection by an electrician. He cited the fact that the main box (fuse box) is only a 60amp main circuit and that the service is split several times. The house is approximately 2500 square feet and has an electric range and electric oven. The inspectors opinion was that the system is inadequate for the house and could be unsafe. Does this sound right? I need some advice. I don't mind having a fuse system versus circuit breakers, but I would certainly mind having an inadequate and unsafe fuse system. Help.
