Electrical Switch

Posted by Glenn on June 30th, 1999 10:12 PM

I had to replace a switch in my hallway. The one already installed had three wires: One black; one white; and one red. I made the mistake (I think) of not purchasing a 3-way switch and hooked up black to copper, red to silver, and white to ground. It shorted and now the entire line in my house doesn't work! The fuse did not blow....Anyway to trouble shoot this or find the problem? I don't know where to begin....
