electrical question

Posted by jimbof on October 2nd, 2000 10:28 PM

I am in the middle of setting up a Radial Arm saw and want to set it up to run on 220.The saw is calling for 120/240 single fase. I am wired for 220 right now. I have available to me two hots(different poles) neutral and ground. The Plug has one Black, one white and a green. i tried to run it wired hot to black, hot to white, and ground to ground. the saw ran very rough and tripped the breaker after about 15 seconds. When i got the saw it was set up to run on 220. i converted it to 110. due to poor performance i want to switch it back. the saw ran very smooth on 110, just weak.
any help would be appreciated.
