My home has electric baseboard heat. For the past couple of years I have been experiencing a problem with black soot on the walls above the heaters. It seems to happen during the cold months when the heat is on. I have been told by an electrician that it is dirt in the air filtering back through the heater and coming back out as carbonized dust. Each person with whom I have spoken has indicated there is nothing that can be done for the problem. A room that was painted at the beginning of November already has the soot above the heaters. Do you think there is an answer to the problem?
