I am the President of a HOA that is in the process of doing reconstruction following a very long and drawn out construction defect litigation. We have hired a Reconstruction Management company to handle the repairs. During litigation, we found out at our buildings were never painted. As a result, the stucco has acted like a sponge and sucked in dirt and stains into the building exterior. Our Management compamy has suggested using an elastomeric product to paint the buildings. A fellow homeowner owns his own house painting company; and he has become very troublesome. He is insisting that the Board of Directors is making the wrong choice. Has anyone out there had a negative experience using elastomeric paint and what was the extent of the problems? If you have used an elastomeric product, have you had a positive experience?
