I own an 3-sided berm type earth home.It has poured concrete walls with a prestressed concrete roof.
If I built one I would recommend covering the outside with EPDM rubber roof membrane before backfilling with earth or using a material called bettenite to seal the seams where the roof meets the walls as this seems to be the area where water leaks are most likely to occur.
I also would back fill with clay before applying the topsoil on the roof.
Water leaks are an earth homes worst enemy.
