Dual slide wall control for ceiling fan/light ?

Posted by tony montoya on February 1st, 2003 03:30 PM

Replace a single switch thatsupplys power to a ceiling fan/light. The only present control is a remote so I want to connect a Dual control switch in case remote is damaged.I have 2 issues now. The 1st issue is the color of wires that came with the switch are not the same as the wires from wall. There is a combination of wires thatare connected to the single switch.
2 wire lines from the wall to the single switch.:
1st one ) 1 green
1 red
1 black
2nd one ) 1 copper (thick)
1 red
1 black.

All wires inter-twined with 1 red and 1 black connecting single switch.

New Dual control consists of
1 Black labeled to motor
1 blue labeled for light
1 black with white line labeled AC
1 green with yellow line with no label.

Now the second problem I have a wall outlet thatno longer works and this arose after turnig power back on from the breaker switch and all I did was pull the wiring out of the wall to inspect how it was connect. I never disconected any wires . Now hopefully somone undertands this menotenous scenario and can help me.
