Drywalling a basement?

Other posters' messages have reminded me of a tip when drywalling a basement .... (especially if you get water in the basement) Drywall will 'wick' the water and cause damage and stains.

*When hanging the bottom drywall sheets, keep them off the floor about 1/4 inch.

*Apply a piece of 2" cellophane packing tape along the bottom edge of the drwall and fold it up and stick it to the sides (like a "U") If any water does come in contact, the tape will keep it off of the pourous drywall paper and/or gypsum (unless the water level rises above 3/4 inches.)

The tape and the 1/4" gap will be covered with molding.
