Drywall spacing on tub surrounds

In answer to your question I would drywall as close as possible to the tub surround as possible and then if you dont get a perfectly even fit(they rarely do) you can "flat tape" it,which consists of filling any large gaps(greater than 1/4") w/mud,let it dry then fiberglass tape it and coat and sand.Then I would caulk the joint between the tub surround and your drywall.Sorry I didn't get to that before,sometimes I get to typin away and forget the question!!Hope that was of some help Gail..good luck!
