drywall repair

Posted by Philip on December 11th, 2002 12:28 PM

I recently moved into a house where a sliding screen door was installed in a room leading to a deck. The drywall was removed from the corner of the room to the middle of the wall leaving a broken ugly line about 4 inches to the right of the sliding door. The top of the door to the celing and the right of the door to the corner of the wall also need new drywall.

I need to install new drywall all around the door. What should I use to clean up that broken edge to the right of the door? Im concerned about using a skill saw for obvious reasons. I dont want to cut into anything behind the drywall. (ie wires) Do I need to remove all the drywall on the wall itself and start from scratch?

Any other tips would be very helpful. Afterall I'm a computer geek. Thanks.
