well if there are studs there should be easy fix. make a template of hole lay out on drywall cut out drywall and fit in place screw into studs fill in seams with joint filler let dry , then ad a fine coat of joint compound. and tape with dry wall tape smooth out and let dry then ad finish coat of joint compound ,take a look if looks flat and even sand till smooth but dont go to deep( into tape,)thats a no no. then prime and paint.
