In my opinion, i would then put furring strips
in place of the studs and attach them with
tapcons, enough just to hold ,and glue them also.
countersink them in flush. you'll need to drill
these. 16" oc and put 1/2" blue board in for
insulation. make sure you seal all holes up with
IF you now have a damp condition now, you may
want to use a good paint first and go with
green drywall.
