My husband tore the soffits out over the cabinets in our 30 yr old kitchen. To our dismay, there was no wall or ceiling behind or over them. He replaced the area with drywall, but was not able to get as thin as what the original builder used. The new drywall hangs down about 1/8 of an inch below the old ceiling. We plan to retexture the ceiling so it will all match. Currently it has a popcorn spray finish (ugh), which I am removing. Will the texture cover so that the ceiling will look level?
