Dryer vent

Hi, Karen. Did you look at the other end of the pipe. Most of them vent to the outside and end with louvers that open when the air is blowing and close when it is not to keep "critters" out. Could be that the lovuers are blocked or otherwise will not open. Could be that there is a lint blockage inside the dryer. Could even be that your lint filter is blocked. You might remove the lint filter and vaccuum around the inside as much as possible. That's about all I can think of, but it sure sounds like something is keeping the hot, moist air in the machine and not letting it out. If no one else has a suggestion, you might have to have somebody come out. Is air blowing out the outside vent when it is running--like on "delicate" where there is little or no heat? Some dryers are vented to the roof. "Critters" build a nest in the vent? Pardon my rambling but it's just a lot easier when you can see it.
