Dryer has 3 prong and outlet has 4 prong

Posted by Linda on March 4th, 2000 04:42 PM

Help. I purchased a replacement 4 prong cord from my general electric dryer since the outlet has a 4-holes. This is a new house and my dryer has 3 prongs. My problem is: the dryer had 3 screws, black, white and red also it states is is grounded. (I did notice there is a white&yellow wires screwed on onto the white screw post.) My new cord has 4 wires, black, white, red and green. Where do I screw on the green wire?
