Sorry I lost the link to this page and just stumbled back upon it. Thanks for the reply.

My main concerns with blowing in cellulose in the dropped ceiling is the possible extra weight of the cellulose causing a problem and also vapor barrier location. I do not think the attic has a vapor barrier and I had thought about painting on vapor barrier type paint on the ceiling. However, if I leave an airspace between the two ceilings, I am uncertain of the consequences??

In regards to adding insulation to the attic. I thought that heat might escape through the uninsulated space between the new and old ceiling. Which would seem to negate any or some of the gain from adding insulation to the attic.

Any insights?
