We bought a house last September that has 2-garages. The main circular driveway is exposed aggregate. The drive spur to the second garage is interlocking pavers on sand base. The pavers were used because there is a huge 400 year old blue oak and the drive curves around it, the idea being to give the oak air and water to the root zone.
Well it became obvious I need to do something with the paver driveway. It is very uneven (on a sand base) and when it rains hard (rarely) water can run into the garage. Temporarily I have removed the 2 rows of pavers next to the garage floor. This allows the water to flow around the garage slab to the slope out back.
Would you recommend paving a concrete apron with a drain in front of the garage? I so, where do I get such a drain and grate? And, can exposed aggregate be done as a DIY, or do I need to find a contractor?
