My husband and I are looking to purchase a home. Our offer was accepted on one, and we had to have a foundation cosultant take a look at the basement. There was water seepage at the cracks in the basement floor due to iron ocher in the drain tiles. The iron ocher has created a blockage in the drain tiles. We need to decide if we want to back out of the deal or not. We can repair the blockage or replace the drain tiles, but we will need to flush out the drain tiles with chlorine/bleach 4-5 times a year to prevent the buildup. This is all according to the foundation inspector. Has anyone else had to deal with this? Is the maintenance simple enough or do we run the risk of having blockage again?? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
