than it is.....Do as Steve suggested, snap a line on the wall at 32"(plumb off the nose of the tread), now do the same on the landing.

Now take a scrap of moulding and draw the height where the lines intersect on the landing. You now have 2 lines on the stairs and 2 on the landing. Now draw a line from the where the 2 lower lines cross to where the 2 upper lines cross.

Take a sliding bevel and find the angle of this new line, transfer to your chop saw and cut 2 samples at opposite angles...put them on the wall, they should fit perfect.

You can do the same at the top of the stairs.
