Don't Forget Ventilation!

If you blow in insulation, or put in batts, make sure you keep the vents open along the edges of the roof where the rafters meet the side walls. The reason your house melts snow and frost first may be that you have insufficient attic ventilation. Also, if you add kraft faced insulation with the kraft paper down, DO NOT put it on top of the existing insulation. The kraft paper will trap moisture in the old insulation.
