Dismantling Architectural Features in 100 yr. old house

Posted by Lynne on July 23rd, 2001 07:41 PM

I have the opportunity to salvage items out of an old home that is going to be torn down. There is an huge, old pocket door running between the living room and dining room that I'd like to remove, but I have no idea how to do this without damaging it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, will I compromise the structural integrity of the building if I take it out without supporting the roof somehow?

Perhaps someone knows of a website about such subjects?
