Dishwasher questions

Posted by Sean on November 20th, 2000 06:49 AM

I am just getting ready to install a new dishwasher. For the record I am not unfamiliar with plumbing and construction, I am just not sure how to to properly install a dishwasher. Here is my situation:
the dishwasher will be located in an island directly across from the sink. This means that I will have to run my drain line under the floor. I need to know what has to be taken into consideration for tapping into main sewer line - how do I overcome the "trap" problem? What do I need to do to prevent possible sewer water being drawn back into water supply etc etc etc.

Right now there are two wires in the basement waiting to come up through the floor to be used as receptacles on the island. Can one of these be used to tie in the D/W or does it need to be a separate line with its own breaker?

This is not going to be a portable DW.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
