My husband has several residential wood framing crews who do excellent work. The problem is, a large company has just moved into town and taken over 90% of the frame jobs by selling the fact that they "pre-build" all the walls in a shop and claim it is more cost effective for the builder. My husband (a veteran framer of 16 years who has framed both ways) says that once on the job, pre-built walls are more trouble than their worth with the margin for error high. Can anyone give me any advice on how to explain to builders that building walls on the job is just as cost effective? Any comparison advice would be greatly appreciated! This company is putting a lot of small framing crews out of business. Thanks.
