Different types of Drywall, and their uses?

Posted by EdF on November 19th, 2001 07:27 AM

I'm trying to conceptualize how to go about framing and finishing for a bathroom. Straightforward bath (vanity, toilet, and shower/tub), but what about the drywall used for my wall/ceiling framing?
--Do I use the water-resistant (blueboard) throughout, or only as a sub-surface if I install a tub surround?
--Do I use 'standard' drywall throughout, then add a tile-backer over it if I decide to tile around my tub?

Any (all) advice is greatly appreciated.
