A 220 circuit sends out two 110 hot leads. You need to use two 110 breakers to divide the circuit at the box. If you try to divide the line downstream you will be going to a 30 to 60 amp breaker. That might be excessive for most outlets or lighting. The 220 is not intended to feed divided circuits, but can supply a sub panel
