the difference depends on how much help you have and how good of a taper you are.

I always like to hang mine in one piece from ceiling to floor. This way the seams are verticle instead of horizontal. Verticle seams seem to show less that horizontal ones.

But, laying the first drywall sideways and making sure its level and in place allows for a nice ledge for the second one to lay on and fasten it. This works good when your by your self.

You do have to ensure that the rock is level or parralel to the floor or ceiling of the house which in some cases will not be level.
