In reply to sister all with 2x8 and nail them... by jb on October 30th, 2000 09:43 AM [Go to top of thread]

I HAVE A DECK, 9' OF THE GROUND. IT'S STRINGERS ARE 2X8 AT 18" CENTERS,THE DECKING MATERIAL IS 2X6. I HAVE REENFORCED IT WITH 4 4X6'S UNDERNEATH ON CONCRETE PIERS. I PLACED 2 4X6 ABOUT 4' APPART ON CONCRETE PIERS AND LAYED THE OTHER 4X6 ON TOP.
REPEATED THE PROCESS SO THAT THE SUPPORT BEAMS ARE
APPROX. 3' APPART. I PLAN TO REST A HOT TUB ON THE DECK WILL THIS BE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE TUB. I FIGURED THE TUBS WEIGHT WET IS ABOUT 1 1/2 TONS.
