Just completed building a deck. Added the stairs. At the top of the stairs, where the deck begins, the deck "Squeaks" when someone walks on it. This happens for about 2' from the top of the stairs going onto the deck.
Last night we received a good amount of rain. This morning...no more squeaks.
My thought is that the wood is swollen, therefore the squeaks are gone.
How do I permanently remedy this situation? I thought about going underneath the deck and toenailing or "toescrewing" the rim joist more securely to the floor joists, just to tighten things up a bit.
Plese understand that I did use joist hangers throughout the deck. The additional screws would just be a way to tighten things up, if they are loose.
