First of all I want to tell you how many things I've learned from this forum just by reading the answers to somebody else's question. Thank you to everybody who takes the time to answer. Now I have a question. There it goes: I have a floating deck, about 7 by 6 and it's about 8 in from the ground. I want to keep the same height but extend it to a 14 by 6. Actually I don't want to extend it, I'll rip it off and rebuild the new one from scratch. The question is should I go with the buried posts or can I still make it a floating one. I live in Toronto, Canada. I know is important for you guys to know that we get lots of snow up here.
One more thing. It will be cedar.
