You are a real busy body Deanna. I got some jobs for you at my house. lol

Just go for it. Sounds like you have it down. Drill the door first from both sides (when the center drill bit pierces the other side then stop and switch and drill into the centered hole) and then recheck the alignment (install the deadbolt)before drilling the jamb. Use 3" screws into the jamb so they go into the studs.

They make a jamb that has heavy metal recessed around the bolt area. Remember many deadbolts just slide into the jamb area which is only 3/4" thick which can be kicked in as easy as the door knob latch. Hope you got one that goes in a ways and reaches a stud and has a heavy reinforced jamb that also gets back to the stud area.
