Damp crawspace

Posted by DaveL on November 18th, 2003 10:51 AM

House is in very wet area and earth under the crawspace is practically muddy. There is vapor barrier sheet and previous owner installed a sump pump. No signs of wood rot or mold, but worry that the humidity level must be over 80 percent relative most of the time. Google search reveals controversy whether to vent or not. Very confusing.

Wouldn't it make sense to install a dehumidifier and allow it to drain into the sump pit?
