Damp Block in Basement

Posted by barb b. on August 27th, 2002 10:31 PM

We've never had water in our basement until this summer - which was extremely rainy.

I have water seeping in one spot between the wall and floor joint. Also I cannot seem to get the other cement blocks dry. I have tried a dehumidfier that only helps for a couple hours.

We dug out around the foundation on the outside and put up heavy plastic and tried to slant the dirt away from the house. But now we don't know what to do about the damp blocks inside.

It's a split entry house with a very flat yard. Is there away to get around putting in drain tile.

Drain Tiles sound very costly and I dont actually get water in now - We just have damp blocks.

Any advice would help. Anybody know how much drain tiles cost.
