I have had success cutting cultured marble counter tops with a 40-tooth carbine tipped blade on my Skilsaw, cutting in the normal direction. Be sure to use a straight edge, cut from the bottom to avoid chipping the surface, and watch out for all of the fine dust.

It seems that a router with a carbine bit should work fine too - this is standard for shaping solid surface materials (e.g., Corian).
