crown moulding

Posted by karl metsch on March 24th, 2002 02:42 PM

I HAVE BEEN CUTTING CROWN MOULDING FOR TWO DAYS AND GETTING NOWHERE. I NEED TO GET AROUND A CORNER SO I HAVE AN OUTSIDE JOINT THAT TAKES ME INTO ANOTHER WALL FOR JUST TWO INCHES AND THEN I HAVE TO TURN AGAIN TO CONTINUE ALONG THE WALL WITH AND INSIDE CORNER. I JUST CAN'T MAKE THE CUTS.
I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU PLACE THE MOULDING AS IT GOES ON THE WALL AND CEILING AT 45 DEGREES AND MAKE L AND RIGHT CUTS AND THEN DO THE SAME WITH THE MOULDING UPSIDE DOWN. THE MOULD CONTOURS ALWAYS FACING YOU.
HOWEVER IT DOESN'T WORK. THEY TALK ABOUT TWO ANGLES THAT I CAN'T UNDERSTAND. I AM AWARE OF THE ANGLE WHICH EXPOSES THE WOOD GRAIN (AT 45 DEGREES) AND THE ANGLE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM SO TO SPEAK WHICH IS ALSO 45 DGRESS.
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME???
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
KARL
