I have a small creek running through my 50' wide back yard. The level stays less than 1' unless there are heavy rains. When I purchased the home w/ my husband 12 years ago...there were adequate though poorly constructed, non-mortared cinderblock retaining walls on either side. There is also a small concrete and wood bridge spanning the creek that leads into the other half of the back yard. Since then, I have divorced. I have kept the house to provide continuity for the kids but I have barely been able to maintain the mortgage much less afford maintaince & improvements. Over the last several years, the
cinderblock wall has caved in and the soil erosion has been severe.
Do you have any words of advice...I need to come up with an affordable and doable solution. I would like to sell the house now that I am re-marrying but the creek really poses a serious issue for prospective buyers.
