Allisan, you want to be careful with your countertop. Most countertop materials will either be dissolved by the solvents for the glue or the sealer maerials, that you may not see, will be. If you have a laminate top, I think that a single edged razor blade in a safe holder may be your best bet. Holding the blade holder at a low angle should allow you to pop the glue and bag right off. Be careful and try to avoid scratching the top. They are difficult to repair.
