Cracked grout: spot repair, or regrout everything?

Posted by Tyler Durden on March 4th, 2001 05:53 AM

I have cracks in the grout on my tile countertops and
bathroom, courtesy of the 6.8 earthquake :-(

What's the best way to repair them? Chisel out the
cracked grout and re-grout? Or can I "cheat" and
just "over-grout", ie, force grout into the crack?

If I do have to re-grout, any ideas on getting the
color to match? Or is it recommended that I remove
ALL the grout from the entire surface, and regrout
completely? This seems like overkill...

Finally, if regrouting the entire surface is the
"proper" fix, I can leave the tiles in place, right?

Thanks in advance.
