do you have a second story? what kind of foundation are you on? do you mind seeing a beam in place of the wall? how is the roof structured and is it bearing on the wall? what part of the country(s) do you live in? what are you`re budget requirements? what do you feel is you`re const. experience? you going to be there if you contract it out? these questions will get you a start. in the end, if it`s a complicated question, i would consult w/a structural engineer. usually the work with a large educated margin of error. plus they put their stamp of approval and license and ins. on the line. please post again as you get you`re ideals together. good luck. p.s. this wasn`t every good question in the book and probably is more complicated than needed. i just had a complicated week. as you post more detailed descriptions, most of the real pros. on this web site will narrow it down for you.
