Counter Top to Wall Gap

Posted by Dodgeman on March 20th, 2001 01:39 PM

Six to eight months ago I installed new formica countertops in a kitchen. I scribed the integral backsplash to the wall so that there was no more than a 1/64 gap anywhere along the wall. Now, after time has passed, this gap has opened up to approx 3/32 inch evenly along the entire wall. It is almost as if the laminate has pulled the integral backsplash away from the wall. The backsplash is the type where the laminate curves from the top up onto the backsplash.
Has anyone else heard of this happening?
